David Benoit Wants To Wrestle As Chris Benoit Jr.

David Benoit wants to wrestle as Chris Benoit Jr. and even has tights similar to his father's made up and ready to go.

It's hard to believe, but it has been 12 and a half years since Chris Benoit murdered his wife and son before taking his own life. It was a horrific moment in time that changed the wrestling industry forever. What some more casual wrestling fans might not know is that Benoit has another son from a previous marriage, David Benoit.

David's perspective on what happened to his father is one that had not been shared until very recently. The 27-year-old recently spoke with Chris Van Vliet about his father and how hard his life became after that day in 2007. Benoit also revealed his desire to get into the wrestling business. He has wrestled in the past, but not much, and revealed the emergence of AEW has reignited his passion to get in the ring.

Chances are the success of AEW has made Benoit think there might actually be a place for him in the business. Due to his name, links, and likeness to his father, the chances of him ever wrestling for WWE are slim-to-none. If all of that wouldn't have prevented him ever wrestling for WWE, his plans should he ever make it back into the ring certainly will have.

Benoit wants to wrestle under the ring name Chris Benoit Jr. He thinks it would be cool, and already has tights similar to his father's made up in various different colors. Plus, he has also been speaking to the band who performed his dad's entrance music Our Lady Of Peace, presumably to ask them if they'll write a new version for him if and when he makes it into the ring.

As for whether any of the above is a good idea, that is most definitely up for debate. It seems unfair that Benoit is unable to crack the wrestling business thanks to what his dad did during the final days of his life. However, to lean into his father's wrestling character as much as he appears to be planning to, that's probably not the best idea either. Benoit's hope is that he will wrestle for NJPW or AEW in the future, but he will need to get some more training under his belt before doing that.
