Julia Roberts Appears at Oscars 2014 for the First Time Since Half-Sisters Death
Julia Roberts went back to worth after a recent personal tragedy and did so with grace and beauty as she’s done her entire career. Roberts absolutely stunned at the Oscars last night, while no doubt having a heavy heart.
Robert’s appearance last night was her first since the shocking death of her half-sister Nancy Motes early this month. Motes, a Hollywood production assistant, was found dead of an apparent drug-overdose in an L.A. residence last week. There was a suicide note as well as prescription and non-prescription drugs found at the scene. Following the tragedy, Roberts cancelled all promotional appearances slated for awards season. Her relationship with Motes was complicated and often described as difficult.
Motes’ fiancé, John Dilbeck, said in a statement, “We loved her dearly and will miss her always. Please know that the words she wrote in online venues were those of someone in pain who loved her family and longed for a closer bond with them.”
Roberts was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in August: Osage County. Despite not winning, Roberts really won the night. We feel she looked absolutely spectacular last night – a trivial thing considering the circumstances.
